With an aging facility, inadequate storage space, a small site, poor product flow and increased demand, Buchanan Food Service was in need of a new facility. W.E. Lyons Construction was retained early in the project to provide pre-construction, value engineering and design-assist services. The design-build team constructed a modern 18,700 square foot facility. To improve product flow, a significantly larger dock was designed with added doors and levelers. The number of pallet positions was increased by 200% and the cooler and freezer were arranged to maximize product flow and rack spacing.
