Through competitive bidding, W.E. Lyons Construction was contracted to design-build the new PG&E administration and control buildings for the 500-megawatt power plant. The two new pre-engineered metal buildings included a control room with a depressed foundation, raised computer floor, chemical testing laboratories, and modern offices. To achieve the Owner required LEED certification, W.E. Lyons Construction utilized a 98% efficient HVAC system with VAV controls, R-30 insulation, waterless and reduced flow plumbing fixtures, and low VOC carpet and paint.
